A Maryland woman says she was drugged and kidnapped from her hotel during a vacation in Tunisia.

Meka, whose story went viral on TikTok, said the traumatic incident unfolded last week after she returned to the Penthouse Tunisia hotel, where she was staying, from a club in the greater Tunis area, per Fox 5. The woman recalled going to the front desk to get a new room key, returning to her room, and then coming back downstairs to ask for more toilet paper.

“The next thing I remember, I’m in the back of a car, and I just start opening doors, I start panicking,” Meka said.

Meka said a man driving the car tried to stop her from escaping

“It’s a grown man. He’s punching me in my face, my forehead, and both of my eyes. I don’t know if he thought he was going to knock me out, but I kept fighting,” she said. “I just [kept] thinking, ‘I got to get back home to my kids.’”

Meka's best friend, Queen, who accompanied her on the trip, said she noticed something was wrong when Meka didn’t return.

“I was asking the staff, and they said she made a friend and left,” Queen said. “How can she make a friend? She doesn’t speak these languages.”

Meka eventually made it back to the hotel, injured and shaken. When the two women asked staff for help contacting authorities, Queen said they were ignored.

“I have videos — they’re like walking away. They’re like, ‘This didn’t happen here. We don’t know what you’re talking about,’” Queen said.

The women were later able to contact the U.S. Embassy and local police. The alleged kidnapping left Meka with two black eyes, scratches, and bruises.

“I don’t know what happened to me. I just know I was fighting for my life,” Meka said. “I feel like they never expected me to come back. I was not supposed to come back to that hotel. Whatever plan they had for me, God had another plan.”

Authorities in Tunisia and the U.S. Embassy haven't publicly commented on the incident.
