Miami's new Black History Month-themed police cruiser is catching heat from social media users.

In honor of Black History Month, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales unveiled on Thursday (February 2) a new police car filled with Africa-themed imagery, per WSVN.

“This is a beautiful collaboration to commemorate Black history and Black History Month and the history of African Americans and our police department and our city,” Suarez said. “This is Black history.”

Stanley Jean-Poix, the president of the Black police union, said the organization fully approved of the cruiser's design before the unveiling, WLRN's Joshua Caballos reported.

“I just spoke to Black police union (@mcpba1946) president Stanley Jean-Poix. He said Mayor Suarez’s office had nothing to do with the design of the car,” Caballos tweeted. “The design had the full approval of the union before it was unveiled."

"‘It celebrates our African ancestry’ he (Jean-Poix) said.”

However, many Twitter users didn't approve of the "Black History Police Cruiser," with some mocking the car for being tone-deaf and performative.

"No, you don’t get credit for just trying. This type of tone-deaf performative action is what provokes a ‘war on wokeness’ when we are made to accept the unacceptable,” MSNBC legal analyst Charles F. Coleman tweeted in part.

“THIS CANNOT BE,” Sherrilyn Ifill, former president & director-counsel of LDF (NAACP Legal Defense Fund), tweeted.
