Los Angeles Lakers Forward LeBron James discussed a number of things pertaining to the upcoming 2021-2022 NBA Season including his vaccination status. Much like 90% of the league's players, James is vaccinated against the virus and he offered an explanation as to what motivated him to receive the vaccine.
"I know that for me I can speak about myself," James told reporters during his team's media day.
"I think everyone has their own choice to do what they feel is right for themselves and their family, and things of that nature. I know that I was very [skeptical] about it all, but after doing my research, and things of that nature, I felt like it was best suited for not only me but for my family and for my friends, and that's why I decided to do it."
While LeBron James was open about telling others that he was vaccinated against the virus, he did not indicate that he would push others to do the same. The four-time NBA champion said that the decision to get vaccinated should be a "personal" one
"We're talking about individuals' bodies," James continued.
"We're not talking about something that's political or racism or police brutality or things of that nature. We're talking about people's bodies and well-being, so I don't think that I should get involved in what other people should do for their bodies and their livelihoods."
James was not alone in his comments on Monday. His teammate, Anthony Davis, confirmed that he was vaccinated as well. Adding on, he said that he believes every person on the team is vaccinated.
"I think everyone on the team is vaccinated, if I'm not mistaken," he said, according to Ryan Ward of Lakers Wire.
James, Davis and the Lakers will open the 2021-2022 regular season on October 19 against the Golden State Warriors.
